Why this website?
Hi, I am Yvonne. I am actively pursuing self-discovery and what it means to be part of a community. I created this website as a means to document and share my explorations. This site is comprised of the following main areas: 1. Reviews of BOOKS that spark my interest and thus generally serve as guides along my journeys. 2. A BLOG of a different style, mostly poetry, but interspersed with traditional narrative. The free form poetry mirrors my soul while the more structured format of narration assuages my analytical nature. 3. Links to other sites that serve as INSPIRATIONS to me as I seek to understand myself and purpose.
About a year ago, I reached a decision point: I had enough . . . of what society deems a successful life, intense focus upon career success and pursuit of money – you know the things society says we should aspire to and are ingrained in us as children. I was unhappy, stressed, and unhealthy. I did not know who I was outside of my job. I knew that things were not fulfilling me. I also learned that happiness cannot be found in others either. So I made a conscious choice to listen to the wind.
John 3:8 (NIV) The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
In so doing, I am exploring and being inspired. This journey of learning more about myself is not always easy. The biggest hurdle is myself, my ego. Yet, the freedom that results from letting loose of the reins of control has been quite exhilarating. I am truly learning faith and accepting Divine love as my birthright.
The dips and turns are not for the faint of heart though; staying grounded in the moment is challenging. My book reviews are one means of exploration. My blogs express the inspiration I receive from my encounters with others, with self, with nature, and with the Divine.
I hope my journey helps you with yours. Let me know what you think and subscribe to get my latest thoughts delivered directly to your email.
